In spite of being raised in the seriously academic atmosphere of Ann Arbor, MI, Chica early on developed an appreciation for the whimsical nature in much of life. Encouraged by her parents she always drew and painted and continues to do so today, still using a light hearted, upbeat approach, no matter what the subject.
